Product Description
Rainbow trout is a freshwater fish and species of salmonid native to the Pacific Ocean in Asia and North America. It was introduced into the Balkans in 1893 when waters were restocked. There are two different forms in Montenegro: Shasta and Steelhead. Shasta lives and spawns in fresh water, while Steelhead lives in the sea but spawns in fresh water.
Rainbow trout can reach 60cm in length and a maximum weight of 15kg. The average hunting weight is 200-900g. Adult freshwater forms are generally blue-green or olive green with heavy black spotting over the length of the body. Adult fish have a broad reddish stripe along the lateral line, from gills to the tail, (hence its name) which is most pronounced in breeding males.
